The Sorter
A downloadable game for Android
Industrial sorting has never been this boring ... or immersive.
Step into an abandoned warehouse and sort endlessly for reasons unknown. Your job is simple: grab incoming bags from a moving conveyor belt and drop them into the correct zones. Miss them, mis-sort them, or hesitate ... you do it all over again.
You have 60 seconds. The belt keeps speeding up. How long can you keep in control?
Developers Note
This was developed in a week for our school's Mobile VR module in 2020. It was our first time working with the Oculus so we look back at this project fondly and see how far we have come from time-to-time. We decided to share our creation, unfiltered, to the world as a testament to our humble origins as game creators.
It was built using VRTK and Unity (2018.4 LTS) for the Oculus Quest, and yes, we do optimise our games.
Optimisations are achieved by aggressive object pooling, static & dynamic batching, texture atlasing and tuning in-game occlusion culling and lighting setup. During testing we have achieved:
- 60 constant FPS
- 50–85 draw calls per frame
- 30k–80k triangles per frame.
